Individual (1-2-1) therapy can explore any issue that you feel burdened or challenged by. It doesn't have to be the 'weight of the world' just some 'thing' that seems to be holding you back or weighting you down.
Many issues are historical that are triggered by current events. Sometimes the things that bother us are fear or future based. Talking therapy helps to unravel, demystify and clarify.
Child & Adolscent
I am an IAPT Accredited Couples Counsellor.
Sessions tend to be quite robust and can often be emotionally charged.
It is important to explore the truth within ourselves and seek common ground to build a stronger foundation to move forward with understanding, motivation and shared focus.
Sessions are staggered and might incur homework or tasks.
The aim of therapy is to support in a helpful non-intrusive way.
Giving a child a safe space to explore and share fears without being judged, inviting them to trust them-self and the therapeutic process.
Great care and competence is required to safeguard the health and mental well-being of children and adolescents in therapy. Sessions are tailored and paced to each child's capacity to remain safe and understand the process without feeling pressured.
The UK approach to the prevention of sexual abuse is not working - a few other countries have positively embarked upon desist prevention programs - offering some hope.
With a minimum of 1 in 20 having suffered sexual abuse - new research suggests therapy can help not only the victims but also the offender.
Welcome to my web-page.
My name is Amanda and I am a fully qualified counsellor and an accredited member of the BACP. My initial training was based at Bolton Community College where I spent four years from level 1 to competing level 4 in Counselling studies with amazing tutors and mentors. From there I completed a BA (hons) degree in Counselling through Middlesex University, and have since completed an advanced Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Salford university. I have completed 1 year of CBT (L7) and currently taking a study break.
Life CAN be challenging but you don't have to struggle on your own, having someone to talk confidentially too, who isn't there to judge, can be such a relief and can make a major difference to health and well-being.
With 9500+ actual counselling hours, please do not be deterred by telephone.
As an experienced therapist I know how well telephone works.
Trials & academic research studies all evidence these findings, and now, masses of clients would not have therapy any other way!
